#travel2013 - Baton Rouge

#travel2013 is going well so far!  My second trip of the year was to Baton Rouge (with an overnight stop in Meridian MS - I'd never been to Mississippi, so it counts!) with friends for their engagement party.  This is going to be another photo post, so I hope you enjoy the captions :)

If you can handle a 9 hour car ride with a smile, your marriage is off to a good start!
I think it's really cool to see where your friends grew up.
At the engagement party.
My first crawfish boil!
Chicken, 2 kinds of sausage, spices, and the veggies you see here.

I love this picture, and I think I might put it in my kitchen.
It was SO good!

  1. What a fun post!
    Beautiful photos of the food.
I don't like crawfish, but I do love a good Shrimp Boil! (same ingredients, just substitute shrimp for crawfish).

    1. Thanks Lea! When I lived in SC we did 'low county boils' with shrimp, and sometimes mussels. It was a lot like this, but the Crawfish Boils is a LOT spicier!!!

    1. Lobster is really good, you should try it!! I never have been much for seafood. When you're from a landlocked state, I think you have a good excuse! BUT when I lived in SC I started eating a lot of shellfish. More shrimp, oysters, crab, lobster, mussels etc. I still don't like a lot of traditional 'fish', but the shellfish are really good. If you ever get a chance to try any of the boils, do it! There's always a lot of food, so if you're not thrilled with the fish part, you won't go hungry :)

Sooooo, the spammers have finally discovered my blog. I'm not sure if that means I've 'made it', but it does mean that I have turned on comment moderation for my older posts. Don't worry though, I get the notifications quickly, and promise to read and publish anything that doesn't include random comments or suspicious links.
