This is my first
Wildflower Wednesday post! I don't think I'll be a contributor every
week month, but I hope to share some of the wildflowers as they make appearances in my yard. I took these pictures with my phone on Sunday, during a walk around my house.
If this is your first visit to my blog, I moved into my great grandmothers cottage house last November, so this is my first spring in my new house. She passed away when I was 9, so I do not have many memories of her yard, and this year is a year of discovery for me. Here is a little bit about
why I'm loving being in this house, and a little bit about what
I'm doing in the garden.

Edit 5/24/12: Wildflower Wednesday is monthly, not weekly.
Cool that you have so many wildflowers in the yard. I'm pretty sure that first one is horsenettle. It's not really a nettle (though it does have nasty thorns) but really its in the nightshade family, along with tomatoes and eggplants. Don't the flowers look like eggplant flowers? I wouldn't sample the fruit, though - they're poisonous! Deadly nightshade is in the family too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the ID and the note that they're poisonous! The horsenettle is my favorite surprise in my yard this week...even though its in the ditch beside my driveway I think it's so pretty. :)
DeleteWelcome to WW and what a wonderful showing! Emily it's only once a month so much more manageable than weekly! gail
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification about weekly vs monthly! That *is* much more manageable :) I'll see you next month, if not before!
DeleteBlack-Eyed Susans are great Summer flowers. May they multiply!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day!

lovely! I have that weed - er - wildflower :) too. Just saw the pretty bloom this morning and was thinking that it was definitely like an eggplant flower.
