#travel2015 - greensboro, nc

I guess it means I'm an adult when my New Year's Resolutions actually become habits.  2013 was my year of travel, but this past weekend had that same vibe.  I took a couple extra days off work, and stretched out the drive to Greensboro NC for a friend's wedding.  I spent the night in Clemson, and the whole adventure was full of good friends and laughter.  Even the drive back was pretty relaxing, and exactly what I wanted.

I didn't take many pictures. but you can add Greensboro NC & Nantahala to my travel map.

  1. Sounds like you had a really good time! I am always amazed at mountains, and how they can blast them down to make roads - we only have hills here. Today is mild, partly cloudy. I have been out planting onions (in a large flower pot filled with potting soil).

    1. One day I would like to plant onions and garlic. I don't know enough about them to feel good about it, and I'm not sure I have the right growing conditions. I'm so shaded, my sunny spots are a precious commodity! We're going to get some rain here today, not too much fun for me, but great for the garden. :)

  2. Onions are the easiest vegetable to grow and can be planted early, before warm-weather vegetables, but they do need sun. Just get a large flower pot, a bag of potting soil, and a pack of onion bulbs (they will be beside the flower bulbs and seed packets at Wal-Mart or any place that sells garden supplies). We buy large plastic tubs and drill holes in them for drainage. Just dump in the potting soil (get one with fertilizer already mixed in such as Miracle-Grow) and pack it down lightly. Planting depth and spacing directions will be on bulb package. Water well if it doesn't rain enough. Going out and pulling up a fresh onion is almost as good as picking a tomato from your own garden! Almost! I know you may not want to do what we did - we cut down two trees and cut several limbs off a few more to let in the sun.
    Happy Gardening! (flowers and veggies!)

    1. Maybe I'll try some this year. My precious sunny spots are usually reserved for tomatoes, but they just don't do very well at my house. You'll have to let me know when they're mature though!!

Sooooo, the spammers have finally discovered my blog. I'm not sure if that means I've 'made it', but it does mean that I have turned on comment moderation for my older posts.
