garden bloggers bloom day - january 2015

I thought I wouldn't have much to report today, but IT'S SNOWING!  Just flurries, and it's not going to stick, but that really is the best kind of snow right?

Not too much is happening in the garden right now, but the first hellebores are starting to show buds.

These are some 'traditional' hellebores from my mom's house.  My newest hellebores, Merlin & an unnamed upright variety that I purchased from Green Thumbs Nursery here in Chattanooga last fall, are doing very well.  They have new growth, and the tiniest hints of buds forming.  Just not quite enough for bloom day.  I know even this picture is stretching it!

I haven't spent a lot of time planning this year's garden adventures.  I planted a good bit this fall, and I need to see how well everything settles in.  That said, I did place one seed order - a yellow perennial foxglove that I think will look really nice with my transplanted campion in a year or two, a purple throat-ed white foxglove, my first hollyhock, and some fun zinnias for my mom.  Nothing crazy, but enough to keep me busy this winter.

Happy Gardening!Thank you Carol for hosting!
