There are certain benchmarks for knowing when spring is coming. The first daffodils to bloom, and to a lesser degree, the first hellebores
(I still call them Christmas roses). The hellebores don't necessarily mean that spring is almost here, but they are a sign that the garden is waking up, and it's OK to start thinking about spring. My hellebores started to open up on Saturday, in the middle of a paining project as you can tell by my hands, and by my lunch break today, they were fully stretched out and blooming.

Monday. I do not have a career as a hand model in my future. |
My more established hellebores are loaded with blooms and buds. The new ones are just starting to put out new growth. Even though we're not quite there yet, today feels like spring is coming.
So very pretty! Spring is just around the corner!

Thanks Lea, I can't wait :)
DeleteLol. Spring feels so far away as we are covered in snow.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, stay warm!
DeleteOooh your blooms look gorgeous! I don't have any which made me really sad and nervous until you said your new plants are just putting out new growth which is what mine are doing so the anxiety lessened a bit. ; )
ReplyDeleteI see some paint on that hand which can only mean more projects are afoot!!
Projects, projects, and more projects. One day my house is going to be ready for that pinterest party!
DeleteOnce the 6 ft of snow melts, I am sure I will have buds on my hellebores too....lovely flowers starting there for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Donna, I hope your snow melts soon!
DeleteAw, there's nothing like that first sign of spring! A beauty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Indie! They're forecasting snow for next week...I hope they're wrong!
DeleteHi Emily
ReplyDeleteTime to hunt around in the yard for Bloom Day photos for tomorrow.
Can you believe they are predicting high temp today of 60F, and then snow and sleet tomorrow night? Crazy weather.
Happy Valentines Day!
Lea
